Beginners

Welcome to my blog!
I will document my journey through the world of robotics, programming and computer engineering.
For starters: I would like to list a few important tools that are helpful for the starter.
It has come to my attention that many books have been written on the subject of computer engineering and computer science. It may be difficult to pin-point which books are actually helpful, and are for the person who wants to jump into computers, has been familiar with computer his entire life, knows most of the abbreviations and intermediate computer knowledge, but has not ever found understandable information about the subject.

A close friend of mine, whom I have come to regard as a genius, told me about what tools he had used to begin his journey. He recommended to me that I look into the series of books by the publisher O'Reilly. There is an app that is created by these publishers that has their books on a handy little app. The App which I am reading right now is called The Bash cookbook (Bash), and is currently the most helpful tool I have come across in my quest for internal computer knowledge. Bash-AKA the Bourne Again Shell, is the shell that currently comes shipped with each Linux/Unix system.

Please tell me what tools you have come across and could not have lived without.
